Linfield Keeps Win Streak Alive with 7-0 Victory Over Bearcats in Women's TennisMcMINNVILLE, Ore. - Straight-sets victories in all six singles matches and a clean sweep of the three doubles pairings allowed Linfield to post a 9-0 shutout of Northwest Conference rival Willamette Saturday inside the Rutschman Field House.
The Wildcats (17-2, 14-0 NWC) won their 59th straight conference match, a streak that now spans parts of five seasons. The Bearcats dropped to 7-9, 6-8 in the NWC.
The Wildcats were threatened in No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Megan Rodgers improved to 15-0 in singles this spring, withstanding a challenge from Alaine Anderson to win 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.
Molly Nelson resisted Elise Helvie's charge to win 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6. In other singles action, Linfield's Kasey Kuenzli improved her season record to 15-2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hannah Johnson at No. 2, Becca Johnson was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Tiffany Kam at No. 1, and Traci Sorensen won 6-0, 6-1 over Becca Younger at No. 4. Hollin Buck recorded the other Linfield win, beating the Bearcats' Sarah Potts 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.
In doubles, Johnson and Rodgers won their fifth consecutive match as a tandem, topping Anderson and Younger 8-3 at No. 1. Kuenzli and Buck defeated Johnson and Kam 8-0 at No. 2, and Sorensen and Nelson paired for an 8-2 decision at No. 3.
