Ueno Rebounds to Shoot 75 in Day Two of NCAA Division III championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Freshman Whitney Ueno shot second lowest round of the day, firing a 75 to move into a tie for 22nd place after the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship s at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida.

Ueno was in 46th place coming into the second round after shooting a 92 in the first round. But the freshman from Hilo, HI rebounded with a +2, 75, shooting even par on the back nine to make the biggest move of the day up the leader board.

After the second round, Methodist College's Charlotte Williams is in first place with a two-round score of 153, +7. But Ueno is within ten shots of 15 other players as she moves into the third and fourth rounds scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

Ueno, playing the back nine first, bogeyed the first hole, but got back to even par with a bidie on the par-5 14th hole. She gave a shot back at 15, but finished her front nine with a birdie at No. 18. Ueno got to -1 with a birdie at No. 4, but was right back at even par with a bogey at No. 5. She then took a tough double-bogey on the last hole to finish at +2, 75.

"Whitney played a beautiful round of golf today," said women's golf Coach Tom Hibbard. "She really responded well after a tough day yesterday and she's put herself in position to have a very good finish."
