Willamette Announces Track and Field Home Schedule for 2007

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University has announced the Bearcats' home schedule for track and field during the 2007 season. Willamette, known for its highly-successful track and field program, has won the last five Northwest Conference titles in both men's and women's track and field.

WU has won a total of 18 NWC men's track and field titles. The Bearcats placed third at the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2004 and earned fourth place in 2005. The Willamette women's track and field team has won nine conference titles in the history of the program.

The Bearcats will begin the season by hosting the Willamette Opener on Saturday, Mar. 3. Later, Willamette will host the Charles Bowles Spring Break Classic on Friday, Mar. 23, providing an early season, low-key meet.

The Willamette Invitational is slated for Friday, Apr. 6 through Saturday, Apr. 7. A few days later, the Bearcats will host the Northwest Conference Multi-Event Meet on Tuesday, Apr. 10 and Wednesday, Apr. 11, to determine NWC titles in the heptathlon and the decathlon.

WU also will hold a triangular meet with Southern Oregon University and Lane Community College on Saturday, Apr. 14. The final event on Willamette's home schedule is the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday, May 17.

Distance races and both Hammer Throws compete Friday evening

April 10-11 - NORTHWEST CONFERENCE MULTI EVENTS
Events begin at 9:00am on Tuesday
NWC Championships for Heptathlon and Decathlon

April 14 - WILLAMETTE/SOU/LCC MEET
Events begin at 10:30am on Saturday

May 17 - NCAA LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER
Events begin at 3:30pm on Thursday
