Willamette to Host "Take A Kid to the Game" Night
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University Athletics Department invites the Salem community to attend the men’s and women’s basketball games against Pacific Lutheran University on Sat., Jan. 27, when the Bearcats will host “Take A Kid to the Game” night. Kids will have an opportunity to experience the college gameday atmosphere when Willamette hosts the Lutes as part of NCAA Basketball’s ninth annual Take A Kid to the Game® (TAKG) celebration.
Youngsters ages 14 and under will receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket ($5.00; $3.00 for senior citizens) to watch the Bearcats take on Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference action at Cone Field House. The women’s game starts at 6 p.m. (PST) and the men’s game follows at 8 p.m. (PST).
Willamette University is hosting one of more than 700 games played across the nation this season as part of the Take A Kid to the Game program. The gameday events form a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation’s youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.
“We are pleased to extend the invitation to the community as we invite adults to bring children to experience a collegiate athletic event,” said Megan Fitzsimmons, Athletics Marketing Coordinator at Willamette University. “It is our hope that children will take advantage of this truly memorable experience and worthwhile program.The Bearcats are excited about the intense basketball action fans will have a chance to see!”
