Colorado College Downs Bearcats, 6-3

WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Colorado College won two of three doubles matches, then held off Willamette University in four of six singles matches, as the Tigers defeated the Bearcats, 6-3, on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Whitman College tennis courts. Willamette dropped to 1-1 on the season.

CC’s top doubles team of Daniel Soloman and Paul Warning defeated Donovan LeDoux and Eric MacMillan of Willamette, 8-5, the the #1 doubles match. WU won #2 doubles, as Micah Mack and Shaun Mihalick downed Dakin Henderson and Tyler Fox, 8-4. Michael Lopezand Chris Goodman-Smith of Colorado College won #3 doubles over Fitz Paccione and Geoff Klein, 8-3.

Soloman defeated LeDoux at the #1 singles position, 6-4, 6-3, but Willamette achieved wins at #2 and #3 singles. MacMillan won the #2 singles match by edging out Paul Warning of Colorado College, 7-6, 6-3. At #3 singles, Paccione lost the first set to Dakin Henderson, but rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win. Colorado College when #4, #5 and #6 singles.

Willamette will remain in Walla Walla, Wash., for a match later today against Whitman College. The NWC contest is set to get underway at 1 p.m. (PST). After the Whitman match, the next action for the Bearcats will be on Friday, Feb. 23 at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., starting at 1 p.m. (PST)
