Bearcat Women's Golf Team Takes Third Place at UPS Invitational
(WOMEN'S GOLF) FIRCREST, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team finished in third place with a team score of 769 at the University of Puget Sound Invitational, March 8-9 at the Fircrest Golf Club. Willamette completed the tournament 22 strokes behind second place Linfield College and 31 strokes in front of fourth place Pacific Lutheran University.
Puget Sound won the team title with a 36-hole score of 696. Other team scores were Linfield at 747, Willamette at 769 and Pacific Lutheran at 810.
Willamette's Whitney Ueno (So., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) tied for 3rd place individually with a two-round total of 178 (85-93). The women's medalist was Emily Lau of Puget Sound, who shot 158 (78-80). Second place went to Leslie Wheeler of Linfield at 167 (80-87). Ueno tied for third with Maresa Jenson of Puget Sound, who also shot 178 (90-88).
The Bearcat women's golf team will be back on the links on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18 as WU hosts the Willamette Invitational at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore. The first round is set to start at 11:30 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday, with the second round scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (PDT) on Sunday.
