Anderson Named First Team All-NWC
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior Alaine Anderson (Santa Ana, CA/Foothills HS) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for her efforts during the 2006-07 season. Anderson was one of eight women's tennis players selected for the First Team. An additional six players earned Second Team honors.
Anderson concluded the season with an 18-3 overall record in singles, playing mostly at the #3 position. She was 14-1 against NWC competition during the regular season, then added two wins in the NWC Tournament. She ended the season with a 13-match winning streak.
In doubles, Anderson teamed with Tiffany Kam (Jr., Pearl City, HI/Punahou HS) to play #1 doubles in most matches. Anderson and Kam went 10-10 on the season, while Anderson achieved a 1-1 record with Susan Butler (Sr., Boise, ID/Boise, ID).
Joining Anderson as First Team All-NWC selections were Becca Johnson and Megan Rodgers of Linfield College, Erika Feltus and Nicole Petrzelka of Pacific Lutheran University, Courtney Dunham from the University of Puget Sound, Lisa Harunaga of Lewis & Clark College and Hadley DeBree of Whitman. Johnson was chosen NWC Women's Tennis Player of the Year and Linfield Head Coach Amy Dames Smith was named NWC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Maura Flaherty from Whitman was selected NWC Women's Tennis Sportswoman of the Year.
