Batch Named NWC Runner of the Week
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior Ian Batch (Eagle, ID/Capital HS) was named NWC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the Willamette Grass Course individual championship and leading the Bearcats to the team title on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Bush's Pasture Park in Salem, Ore. Batch completed the 7,085-meter course in 22:18:63 for roughly an eight-second lead over teammate Tristan Knutson-Lombardo (Jr., Juneau,AK/Juneau-Douglas HS), who finished in second place.
The Bearcats won the men’s team championship with a score of 18, as Batch led the way to a 1-2-4-5-6 finish. Whitworth University placed second with a score of 41 and Pacific University (Ore.) was third at 85.
Batch won the NWC men’s cross country individual championship last year. He will lead the Bearcats into their next action, scheduled for Saturday, September 22 at the Northwest Conference Preview, hosted by George Fox University at the Willamette Mission State Park. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. (PDT).
