Willamette Finishes Fourth at NWC South Five-Way #3
WEST LINN, ORE. -- Willamette University took fourth place at the NWC South Five-Way #3, hosted by Lewis & Clark College at the Oregon Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 1. Linfield College won the team title with a score of 302, while Pacific University was second at 339 and Lewis & Clark was third at 351. Willamette followed at 357 and George Fox was fifth at 383.
The tournament ended with co-medalists in Andrew Fitch and Tyler Nelson, both from Linfield. Fitch (38-36) and Nelson (37-37) each shot a 74. Third place was earned by Kyle Henderson of Linfield with a 76 (41-35). Jeff Nigro (41-37) of Linfield and Taryn Braseth (42-36) of Pacific tied for fourth at 78. The lowest nine-hole score of the day was registered by Henderson with a 35 on the back nine.
Willamette's top finisher was Alex Bennett (So.), who recorded an 86 (41-45). Other WU golfers who contributed to the Bearcats' team score were Shane Adversalo (So., Honolulu, HI/University Laboratory School) with an 88 (42-46), Kevin Burfeind (Fr.) with an 89 (45-44) and Robbie Beard (So., Yankton, SD/Yankton HS) with a 94 (49-45).
The Bearcats will compete again on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the NWC South Five-Way #4, hosted by Linfield College. Tee time at the Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, Ore., is scheduled for 12 p.m. (PDT).
