Willamette Women's Golfers Hold Third Place at UPS Invitational
TACOMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team finished the first day of the Puget Sound Invitational in third place at the Fircrest Country Club. Opening round action on Thursday, March 6 ended with the University of Puget Sound in first place with a score of 352. Linfield College was second at 379 and was followed by Willamette in third at 440 and Pacific Lutheran University in fourth at 442.
In the battle for medalist honors, Maresa Jenson of Puget Sound was leading with a score of 84 on the par 75 course. Willamette's Whitney Ueno (Jr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) was in second place with an 86. Sarah Bicker from UPS was third at 88.
Kristine Juhola of UPS had the highlight of the first round, as he shot a hole-in-one for the Loggers. Juhola fiinished the day in fourth place with an 89. Megan Starr of UPS and Brynn Hurdus of Linfield were tied for fifth place after both shot a 91.
Action will continue with the final round on Friday, March 7. Tee time is slated for 8 a.m. (PST).
