Adversalo Ties for 2nd, Bryant is 6th, at George Fox Invitational #2
NEWBERG, ORE. -- Shane Adversalo (So., Honolulu, HI/University Laboratory School) tied for second place with a 76, and Ben Bryant took sixth place with a 78, at the George Fox Invitational #2, held at the Chehalem Glenn Golf Course on Thursday, April 10. Willamette finished fourth in the team standings.
Kyle Henderson of Linfield College won the individual title. He shot a 2-over-par 74 (36-38) to win by two strokes. Adversalo (39-37) tied for second with Ben Sisler of Corban College (38-38) and Tyler Nelson of Linfield (39-37). Andrew Fitch of Linfield claimed fifth place with a 77 (39-38) and was followed by Bryant at 78 (38-40).
In the team standings, Linfield's #1 team won the championship with a score of 306. Corban was second at 325 and Linfield's #2 team was third at 328. Willamette was fourth at 341 and George Fox was fifth at 359.
Adversalo and Bryant provided two of the four scores in Willamette's team total. Also contributing to the team score were Dave Bennett (Sr., Coos Bay, OR/Marshfield HS) and Kevin Burfeind (Fr., Kalispell, MT/Flathead HS). Bennett carded an 18-hole total of 86 (40-46), while Burfeind shot an 88 (43-45).
Taylor Buchheit (Fr., Mount Angel, OR/John F. Kennedy HS) of Willamette finished with a 95 (48-47). Alex Bennett (So., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS), also from Willamette, shot a 101 (52-49).
Willamette will conclude the spring season at the Northwest Conference Championship set for April 19-20 in Yakima. Wash. The tournament will be held at the Appletree Golf Course, starting at 8 a.m. (PDT) each day.
