Ueno is Selected NWC Player of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior Whitney Ueno (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) has been named Northwest Conference Player of the Week in women's golf after winning the NWC Spring Classic, held at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Friday, March 28 and Friday, March 29. Ueno won the tournament by seven strokes with a two-round score of 160.

Ueno shot an 81 on the first day under challenging weather conditions to build a five-stroke lead. She added a 79 on the second to secure the win.

Brynn Hurdus of Linfield College took second place at 167. Kelly Hartley of Pacific University was third at 172 and Maresa Jenson from the University of Puget Sound was fourth at 178.

By winning the NWC Spring Classic, Ueno clinched All-Northwest Conference honors for the third consecutive year. She also earned All-NWC recognition as a freshman and a sophomore.

Willamette will compete at the Linfield Invitational on Friday, April 11 at the Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, Ore. The NWC Championship will follow on April 19-20 at the Aspen Lakes Country Club in Sisters, Ore.
