Willamette in Sixth Place after 18 Holes at NWC Championship

YAKIMA, WASH. -- Willamette University was in sixth place in the team standings after the first day of the Northwest Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday, April 19 at the Apple Tree Golf Course. Linfield College held first place at 288 and Pacific University was second at 299. WU's score was 321.

Robbie Beard was the Bearcats' top golfer on Saturday. He shot a 78 (36-42) to tie for 16th place among 50 total entries. Dave Bennett of Willamette was tied for 21st after carding a 79 (39-40). The leader in the medalist race was Max Bonk of Pacific, who shot a 68. Andrew Fitch of Linfield was in secnod place witha 69.

The NWC Championship will conclude on Sunday, April 20 with the second round. The tournament counts for one-half of the NWC golf title, with one-quarter determined by the NWC Fall Classic and one-quarter determined by the NWC Spring Classic.
