Willamette Women are 4th, Men are 5th, in NCAA Track and Field Power Rankings
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's track and field team is fourth in the nation, and the Willamette men's team is fifth, in the NCAA Division III Team Power Rankings compiled in conjunction with the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Points are awarded to each team based on its top two performances in every individual event during the season, with only one time counting for each relay.
Leading the NCAA Division III women's power rankings is Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) with 292.61 points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is second at 288.14, followed by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in third at 285.23 and Willamette in fourth at 283.14. The University of Chicago is fifth at 281.22.
In the men's power rankings, Augustana College (Ill.) is first with 325.00 points. Whitworth University is second at 317.34 points and North Central College (Ill.) is third at 311.27. Holding fourth is the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with 306.45 points, while Willamette is fifth at 305.37.
Willamette's next track and field action is set for Friday, May 2 at the Pacific Twilight meet. The competition is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. (PDT) in Forest Grove, Ore.
