Willamette to Host Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University will host the 2008 Wilson/ITA Small College Northwest Regional Women's Tennis Championship starting on Saturday, Sept. 27 and continuing through Monday, Sept. 29. Action is scheduled for the Willamette University Tennis Courts and the Salem Swim and Tennis Club, with the Courthouse Tennis Club serving as an alternate site if indoor courts are needed due to the weather.
All nine members of the Northwest Conference will be competing at the Northwest Regional. In addition to Willamette, members of the NWC are George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield College, Pacific University, Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Puget Sound, Whitman College and Whitworth University.
The tournament gets underway on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (PDT), with half of the bracket played at Willamette and half played at the Salem Swim and Tennis Club. Two rounds of championship singles, one round of consolation singles and the first round of doubles, are scheduled for Saturday.
On Sunday, the main draw will get underway at 8:30 a.m. at Willamette, with the consolation rounds starting at the same time at the Salem Swim and Tennis Club. The semifinals and finals are set for the WU Tennis Courts on Monday, starting at 8:30 a.m.
A complete 64-player draw is expected in singles, with a full 32-team draw anticipated in doubles. The singles and doubles brackets will be posted after they are finalized.
