Bearcats Advance to #16 in AFCA Football Poll

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University football team has moved up two spots to #16 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NCAA Division III Poll released on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Bearcats are 6-0 overall, including 2-0 in the Northwest Conference. WU routed Lewis & Clark 76-10 on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Mount Union College (Ohio), 5-0, remained #1 with 991 points and 31 of 40 first place votes. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 5-0, stayed at #2 with 964 points and nine first place votes. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 5-0, was #3 with 917 points, and Wabash (Ind.), 5-0, moved up one spot to #4 with 832 points. Capital University (Ohio), 4-1, lost to top-ranked Mount Union, 49-7, on Saturday, and fell from #4 to #17.

Willamette will take on NWC rival Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Puyallup, Wash. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. (PDT) at Sparks Stadium. Last year, PLU defeated Willamette, 17-10, in Salem, Ore.
