Bearcats are Ranked #18 in the AFCA Poll

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University football team is ranked #18 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NCAA Division III Poll released on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The Bearcats are 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Northwest Conference following a 32-23 win at Whitworth University on Saturday, Oct. 4. Willamette, ranked #22 by the AFCA coaches a week ago, made the biggest move among teams in the poll this week, as the 'Cats improved by four spots.

Mount Union College (Ohio), 4-0, remained #1 with 989 points and 29 of 40 first place votes. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 4-0, was #2 with 967 points and 11 first place votes. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 4-0, followed at #3 with 915 points, and Capital University (Ohio), 4-0, was #4 with 862 points. Capital will play at Mount Union this weekend.

Willamette will be at home on Saturday, Oct. 11 to take on Lewis & Clark College in NWC action. Kickoff at McCulloch
Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m. (PDT).
