Houser and Murakami Win First Round Doubles Match at Northwest Regional

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Matt Houser (So., Vancouver, WA/Evergreen HS) and Andrew Murakami (Sr., Wahiawa, HI/University of Redlands) of Willamette University won their first round doubles match on Friday night (Oct. 3) at the Wilson/ITA Small College Northwest Regional Men's Tennis Championship at the Bratton Tennis Center. Houser and Murakami, seeded #5, defeated Michael Parretta and Brent Smoots of Pacific Lutheran University, 8-2.

In the Round of 16, Houser and Murakami will take on Joe Wales and Colin Zalewski of Whitworth University. WU's other doubles entry of Shawn Mahmood (So., Gresham, OR/La Salle HS) and Michael Moore (So., Seattle, WA/Lakeside School) was defeated in the first round by the #3-seeded team of Nick Ruess and Ward Van Mens from Linfield College, 8-1.

Action will resume on Saturday morning with the start of singles play and will continue through Monday, Oct. 6. The Northwest Regional is being hosted by Whitman College.
