Willamette Advances to #21 in D3Football.com Top 25

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University moved up to #21 in this week's D3Football.com Top 25 following a 32-23 victory over defending Northwest Conference champion Whitworth University on Saturday, Oct. 4. The Bearcats are 5-0 on the season, 1-0 in the NWC.

WU has scored more than 30 points in all five games this season. At Whitworth on Sunday, the 'Cats rallied from a 14-0 deficit and outscored the Pirates 25-9 in the second half. Willamette is one of 18 undefeated teams in this week's poll.

Mount Union College (Ohio), 4-0, remained #1 and received 21 of 25 first place votes. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, also 4-0, received four first place votes and was ranked #2. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), 4-0 kept its hold on the #3 position.

Willamette's opponent in the season-opener, Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.), moved up from #25 to #23 in the poll. The Bearcats defeated the Cobbers, 35-21, on Sept. 6 at McCulloch Stadium.

After playing two straight road games, Willamette will be at home on Saturday, Oct. 11, when the Bearcats host Lewis & Clark College. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. (PDT).

Willamette's offense is averaging 358.2 total yards and 248.8 rushing yards per game.
