Willamette Plays Alumni Game against Former Bearcats

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University softball team played its alumni game on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the WU Softball Field. Willamette's alums were victorious by a final score of 7-5.

Also on Saturday, the Bearcats honored former player Zeeny (Chamberlain) Partee as the 2008 Distinguished Softball Alum. She received the award at the team's alumni dinner.

The Bearcats are excited about the upcoming 2009 season. In 2008, Willamette went 25-11 overall, including 10-2 in the Northwest Conference (3rd place). Pitcher and designated player Nikki Franchi (Los Gatos, CA/Saratoga HS), was named First Team All-America by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Franchi is back for her senior season.

Head Coach Damian Williams guided the Bearcats to a 25-11 overall record in 2008.
