Bearcat Cross Country Teams Receive At-Large Selections to NCAA Championships

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's and women's cross country teams have been selected for at-large berths into the NCAA Division III National Championships, set for Saturday, Nov. 22 at the L.S. Ayres Complex in Hanover, Ind. As a result, the Bearcats will compete for the national team and individual titles with full squads entered in both the men's 8-kilometer and the women's 6-kilometer races.

Overall, each race at the NCAA Championships will include 32 teams of seven runners each, plus 56 individuals runners. The maximum field size is 280 runners in each race.

A total of 16 teams in each sport (men's and women's) received automatic qualifying berths by winning one of the eight Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 15. The final 16 teams in each field were selected on Sunday from the list of teams placing third, fourth or fifth in Regional competition.
