Ueno Finishes Second at CMS Invitational in California
CLAREMONT, CALIF. -- Willamette University senior golfer Whitney Ueno (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) finished in second place at the CMS Invitational, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Feb. 2-3 at the Los Serranos Country Club. Ueno shot a 36-hole total of 166 (84-82) to conclude the tournament five strokes behind Tori Leon of Occidental College.
Leon won medalist honors with a 161 (84-77). Lauren Buchanan of CMS was third at 170 (86-84).
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took first place in the team competition with a score of 745 (368-377). The University of Puget Sound placed second with 750 strokes (373-377). Willamette and Occidental did not field complete teams.
The CMS Invitational gave golfers from Willamette and Puget Sound a chance to get in two competitive rounds of golf early in the season. WU's next competition is set for March 5-6 at the Logger Invitational, which will be hosted by Puget Sound at the Fircrest Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash.

Whitney Ueno earned a score of 166 during the two rounds of the CMS Invitational.
