Ueno Receives NWC Weekly Honor after Winning L&C Invitational
SALEM, ORE. -- Whitney Ueno (Sr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) from Willamette University has been chosen Northwest Conference Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week after claiming medalist honors at the Lewis & Clark Invitational on Sunday, March 1. Ueno shot a 79 in rain and light winds to earn a five-stroke margin of victory.
Ueno shot a 39 over the front nine for the lowest nine-hole score in the tournament. She registered a 40 on the back nine.
Since the spring of 2008, Ueno has won or tied for first place in nine of 10 tournaments. She took second place at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Invitational earlier this year (Feb. 2-3) to end a string of eight consecutive first place finishes.
The WU women's golf team is scheduled to compete again on Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6 at the Logger Invitational at the Fircrest Golf Club near Tacoma, Wash. The event is slated to begin at 11 a.m. (PST) on Thursday and at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Whitney Ueno carded a winning score of 79 at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
