Monroe is Selected NWC Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Jacob Monroe (Sr., Keizer, OR/McNary HS) of Willamette University has been chosen Northwest Conference Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Pacific Northwest Relays on April 10-11. Monroe performed well in three throwing events at the meet, as he won the hammer, placed second in the discus and finished fourth in the shot put.

Monroe recorded a provisional qualifying distance for the NCAA Division III Championships in the hammer throw. His winning toss covered 176'0", was a personal record and improved his previous provisional mark of 174'2". Monroe led all competitors in the field of 15 at the Pacific Northwest Relays.

He also took second out of 20 entries in the discus and was fourth out of 24 entries in the shot put. He achieved a distance of 141'6" in the discus and threw the shot 44'8".

Willamette will host the WU/WOU Mini Meet on Thursday, April 16. The action is set to get underway at the Charles Bowles Track at 4 p.m. (PDT).
