Willamette Rowing to Compete at Covered Bridge Regatta

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's rowing team will send its varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ to the Covered Bridge Regatta on Saturday, April 11. The regatta will be held on Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore., just east of Eugene. Race time for the W2V8+ is set for 2:50 p.m. (PDT), with the WV8+ race to follow at 3 p.m. (PDT).

Willamette's W2V8+ crew will be coxswain Ariana Orford, stroke Heidi Hunt, 7-seat Leslie Schultz, 6-seat Emily Robinson, 5-seat Lea Griggs, 4-seat Libby Tobey, 3-seat Lyndsy Clark, 2-seat Kara Hafkey, bow Hannah Waller. The Bearcats will be taking on Humboldt State University and Pacific Lutheran University in th W2V8+ race.

The Willamette WV8+ crew will feature coxswain Erica Soma, stroke Geneva Hooten, 7-seat Kelsey White, 6-seat Hilary Andrus, 5-seat Christina Thorburn, 4-seat Sarah Schroeder, 3-seat Morgan Iveson, 2-seat Karina Hoogstede, bow Larissa Stiglich. WU will be racing against Humboldt State, Pacific Lutheran, Seattle Pacific University and Lewis & Clark College in the WV8+.

Directions to the Covered Bridge Regatta:
* From I-5, take Hwy. 58 eastbound (Exit 188A)**, 13 miles to Dexter Lake.
* Turn left at the white covered bridge, to Lowell.
* Turn left at Boundary Rd. (becomes Pengra Rd.), 0.8 miles to Lowell Park.
* Turn left into the park, then right immediately through the yellow gate.
* Follow the gravel road to the boathouse.

** Southbound I-5 update: Be aware if you are heading south that the I-5 exit is under construction. Even so, I-5 Exit 188A, the "Goshen, Highway 99, Oakridge & Highway 58" exit, is the one to take. It is located just south of the 30th Street-Eugene exit. If you miss Exit 188A, the next exit as you head south is four miles away at Creswell.
