Willamette to Host Last Chance Meet Today

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University track and field teams will host the WU Last Chance Meet today, May 14, at the Charles Bowles Track. Action will begin with field events at 4 p.m. (PDT). Running events will get underway at 6:30 p.m.

Willamette and 10 other colleges and universities will compete, along with members of club teams and unattached athletes. Most of the college teams are from the Pacific Northwest, but Colorado College and Marymount University from Virginia also will participate.

The WU Last Chance Meet provides a final opportunity for athletes to qualify or improve their qualifying times for the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Willamette men's team has seven athletes with a total of eight NCAA provisional qualifying times this season. The Bearcat women's team has six athletes who have combined for two automatic qualifying times and 10 provisional qualifying times.

This year's NCAA Championships will be held at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Competition will begin on Thursday, May 21 and will continue through Saturday, May 23.
