Fore Willamette a Huge Success
SALEM, ORE. -- The annual Fore Willamette golf tournament raised more than $30,000 for Bearcat Athletics. Thirty-five teams participated in a shotgun style tournament at the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Ore. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009. The 140 participants enjoyed an entire day full of events.
The teams were split into two flights, the Cardinal flight and the Gold flight. The Alpine Mortgage Planning team finished in first place for the Cardinal flight with a score of 59. Team members were Edward Coker, Aaron Coker, Greg Molitor and Brian Reynolds. The Bon Appetit team finished in first place for the Gold flight. Their score was 55. Team members included Mark Swensen, Steve Samuelson, Jeff Dunn and Karl Kupers.
Participants enjoyed a barbeque lunch on the patio and a long drive contest before the official tournament got underway. Dan Griffiths, a member of the Hoffman team, won the long drive contest for the men. For the women, Wendy Gregory, a member of the AGSM-Ringold team, was victorious.
Members of the Willamette Athletic Department staff were stationed at each hole throughout the course selling tickets for the grand raffle prizes and accepting bids for the silent auction items. In the evening, participants moved inside to the banquet room where they enjoyed dinner. The winners of the grand raffle and silent auctions were announced at this time, as well.
Many thanks to the event sponsors: Hoffman Construction, Hennebery Eddy Architects, Fortis Construction, Pepsi Bottling Group and The Willamette Store.
