Redfield Places 10th in 1,500-Meter Run at Oregon Preview
EUGENE, ORE. -- Willamette University junior Stefan Redfield (Sisters, OR/Sisters HS) took 10th place among 31 athletes in the men's 1,500-meter run during the Oregon Preview on Saturday, March 20 at Hayward Field. Redfield completed the race in 3:56.58 and placed third in the second heat of runners versus the clock. Matthew Centrowitz from the University of Oregon, who won the first heat in 3:48.97, was the overall winner.
Redfield's time was the second-fastest of his career. His ran his personal record two weeks ago for a first place finish at the Willamette Opener on March 6.
Leo Castillo (So., Parkdale, OR/Hood River Valley HS) and Ryan McLaughlin (Jr., Milwaukie, OR/Milwaukie HS) of Willamette also competed at the Oregon Preview. Castillo recorded a time of 3:58.37 for the Bearcats in the first heat of the 1,500. McLaughlin participated in the 800-meter run and recorded a time of 1:55.60.
The Bearcats will return to action on April 2-3 when they host the Willamette Invitational at the Charles Bowles Track in Salem, Ore. Each season, the Willamette Invitational is one of the largest collegiate track and field meets on the West Coast.
