Rowing Moves Up in National Ranking

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's varsity eight+ crew moved up one position to #8 in this week's Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/USRowing NCAA Division III Eights Coaches Poll. Rankings were released on Wednesday, April 14.

In the WV8+ the Bearcats earned 120 points. Williams College is ranked #1 with 200 points. The University of Puget Sound, which competes against Willamette in the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference (NCRC), is currently ranked #5 with 165 points. Smith College dropped from #6 to #9, allowing the Bearcats to climb a spot.

In the cMax Ratings, which ranks WV8+ boats based solely on season best times, has Willamette tied for #6 in Division III, tied with Trinity College (Conn.). The Bearcats are 19.4 seconds behind #1 Williams College (Mass.). Willamette is just 5.3 seconds behind Bates College (Maine).

Willamette's next rowing competition is set for Saturday, April 17 at the NCRC Championships in Vancouver Lake, Wash.
