Bearcats Place Fourth in Men's 4 x 100-meter Relay at Hayward Field
EUGENE, ORE. -- The Willamette University Bearcats took fourth place in the men's 4 x 100-meter relay at the Oregon Relays on Saturday, May 1 with a time of 42.65 seconds. Competing in the relay for Willamette were Nate Dick (Jr., Stanfield, OR/Stanfield HS/So. Oregon Univ.), Neal Howard (So., Seattle, WA/Ballard HS), Tristan Bodding-Long (Sr., Woodinville, WA/Woodinville HS) and Paul Winger (So., Bonney Lake, WA/Bonney Lake HS).
Wichita State University won the 4 x 100 relay with a time of 40.99 seconds. Western Washington University was second in 42.30 seconds.
Jennifer Luecht (Sr., Milwaukie, OR/Rex Putnam HS) of Willamette placed seventh in the women's 400-meter dash. Luecht finished the race in 58.07 seconds and was just 0.17 out of fifth place. Katie Reid, running for club team Kajaks Track & Field, won the event in 55.28 seconds.
Winger competed in the men's 400-meter dash and equaled his personal best with a time of 48.98 seconds. He took second in his heat and placed ninth overall. Winger also recorded a time of 48.98 last weekend to win his second consecutive Northwest Conference 400-meter title.
Chad Barlow from the University of Oregon won the 400 at the Oregon Relays, finishing in 47.04 seconds. Chris Stubbs, competing unattached, took second place in 47.26 seconds.
The Bearcats will host the WU Multi-Event Meet on Sunday, May 2 and Monday, May 3. Action is set to get underway at the Charles Bowles Track at 1 p.m. (PDT) each day.
