SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University football, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball teams have been on campus for more than a week. As of Thursday, Aug. 26, they have been joined by all of Willamette's incoming freshmen, including athletes on WU's other athletic teams.

The freshmen are participating in Opening Days, the new student orientation program held at Willamette each year. All of the first-time college students are divided into groups of 10 to 15 members. Every group is led by two Opening Days leaders.

Nearly all of the members of the Opening Days staff are students. They help the newcomers adapt and work their way through the first few days on campus. Included below is a picture of the Opening Days leaders meeting near the tent where the Opening Days Convocation will be held on Friday, Aug. 27 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. (PDT).

Opening Days will continue through Wednesday, Sept. 1. Students will have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities and will attend several College Colloquium sessions as well as meet with their academic advisors.
