Willamette Track and Field Teams Receive All-Academic Recognition
NEW ORLEANS, LA. -- The Willamette University men’s and women’s track and field teams have received All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2010 season. The Willamette women’s team attained a 3.47 cumulative team grade point average, while the Bearcat men’s squad earned a 3.25 cumulative GPA.A total of 106 women’s track and field teams and 68 men’s track and field teams in NCAA Division III were selected for the All-Academic award. Each squad had to earn at least a 3.1 cumulative team GPA in order to achieve All-Academic status.
Haverford College (Pa.) recorded the highest GPA by a women's team at 3.66. Kenyon College (Ohio) topped all men's teams with a 3.50 GPA.
Illinois Wesleyan University, which won the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship, was chosen as the Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year. IWU achieved a 3.23 cumulative team GPA.
Salisbury University (Md.) was named Men's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year after taking second place at the NCAA Championships and earning a 3.14 GPA. The Scholar Team of the Year awards go to the teams placing highest in the NCAA while also claiming All-Academic honors.
