Three Bearcats Reach Round of 16 in Singles at ITA Regional
Ferguson and Wong Advance to Quarterfinals in Doubles
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University advanced three players through the first two rounds and into the Round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Men's Tennis Small College Northwest Regional on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Round of 16 is set to begin on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. (PDT), with the quarterfinals set for later in the day.
Reaching the Round of 16 for the Bearcats were #2-seed Joshua Wong (So., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS), #8-seed Cody Ferguson (Jr., North Bend, OR/North Bend HS/Western Oregon Univ.) and #10-seed Matt Houser (Sr., Vancouver, WA/Evergreen HS). Houser and Ferguson are in matches scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Wong is slated to play at 10 a.m.
In addition, Ferguson and Wong advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles, which will be played on Sunday, starting at 3 p.m. (PDT).
All of Sunday's action is scheduled to be at the Willamette University Tennis Courts. The Courthouse Tennis Club (1379 Madison NE) is an alternate site in case of rain.
