Women's Golf Participates in Pacific Invitational

Chung Cards a First Round 89

BANKS, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's golf team participated in the first day of the Pacific Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 18. Haylee Chung (So., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) of WU carded an 89 to finish the first day in a tie for 13th place.

Linfield College leads the pack in the team standings with a score of 335, four strokes in front of second place Whitworth University at 339. Pacific University holds third place at 352 and Whitman College is fourth at 357. Willamette follows in fifth place at 400. Corban University is sixth with a score of 411.

Valerie Kitamori of Pacific University is in first place in the individual standings after carding a first round 80. She has a one-stroke lead over second place golfers Emily Guthrie of Whitworth and Brynn Hurdus from Linfield.

Sophomore Serena Cualoping (Manila, Philippines/International School) of Willamette turned in a first round 92 to position herself in 19th place entering the second day of competition.

Play will continue tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 19 in Banks, Ore., with the final round of the tournament.
