First Day Complete for Women's Golf at NWC Fall Classic
BEND, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's golf team is in eighth place following the first round of play at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 23 in Bend, Ore. Whitworth University is in first place in the team standings after carding a 320.
Kelsey Morrison of George Fox University is in first place in the individual standings with a first round score of 76. Morrison has a one stroke lead over Emily Guthrie of Whitworth and Brynn Hurdus of Linfield College. Guthrie and Hurdus each carded rounds of 77 to finish in a two-way tie for second place.
Willamette's Erin Barclay (Sr., Snohomish, WA/Bothell HS) shot a 95 to position herself in a tie for 34th place. Barclay shot Willamette's best round of the day.
Haylee Chung (So., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) carded an opening round 98 and is in 37th place for Willamette.
George Fox trails Whitworth in the team standings by eight strokes after shooting an opening round of 328. Linfield carded a 329 and is in third place. The University of Puget Sound and Whitman College are in a two-way tie for fourth place after carding rounds of 348.
Pacific University shot a 355 and Pacific Lutheran University a 383 and sit in sixth and seventh place. The Bearcats are in eighth place after carding an opening round 411. Lewis & Clark College competed with an incomplete roster and did not qualify for the overall team standings.
