Bearcats Earn Academic All-NWC Honors
SALEM, ORE. -- A total of 74 Willamette University student-athletes have been named to the 2010-11 Academic All-Northwest Conference Teams. Sixteen of Willamette's selections were two-sport athletes resulting in 90 awards overall.
In order to qualify for the Academic All-NWC Teams, each student-athlete needed to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and had to participate in a full season on a varsity team in 2010-11. Overall, more than 800 athletes from the NWC's nine member colleges and universities were named to the Academic All-NWC Teams.
There were 33 athletes from Willamette men's teams who earned Academic All-NWC recognition, including 11 two-sport athletes for 44 total awards. In addition, 41 athletes from WU women's teams received Academic All-NWC honors, including five two-sport athletes for 46 total awards.
Academic All-NWC teams were announced by the conference in all 18 sports with NWC championships. A men's at-large team and a women's at-large team also were chosen to honor student-athletes who participated in non-conference sports.
