Willamette's Softball Series at George Fox is Moved to Hood View Park
Games will be Played in Happy Valley, Ore., at Site of Northwest Cup
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University softball team, which opened the season this past weekend with four games during the Northwest Cup at Hood View Park in Happy Valley, Ore., will be returning to the same location this weekend. Willamette's series with Northwest Conference opponent George Fox University, originally scheduled to be played on the GFU campus in Newberg, Ore., has been moved to Hood View Park due to field conditions.
Willamette and George Fox still plan to compete in doubleheaders on Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26. First pitch will still be 12 p.m. (PST) each day. The only change in the move to Hood View Park in Happy Valley, located near Clackamas, Ore. The series will begin NWC play for both teams.
Prior to the weekend series, the Bearcats are slated to play one game at crosstown rival Corban University on Thursday, Feb. 23. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (PST) on the Corban campus in Salem, Ore.
The Bearcats enter the game at Corban with a 1-3 overall record. Corban owns a 10-2 record.
George Fox is 5-5 on the season. The Bruins opened the schedule nine days before the Bearcats with six games in California between Feb. 9 and Feb. 12. Last year, Willamette won three of four games against GFU with all four games played in Newberg.
