Ahern is Chosen NWC Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week

Wins Triple Jump at Willamette Opener

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University freshman Elisa Ahern (Lake Forest Park, WA/Shorecrest HS) has been chosen Northwest Conference Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Willamette Opener in track and field on Saturday, March 3. Ahern was selected from a group of five nominees in voting by a panel of NWC sports information directors.

Ahern won the triple jump at the Willamette Opener with a mark of 35' 3'.75". She took first place by half a foot, with Katie Pelcher of Western Oregon University placing second at 34' 9.75".

Ahern's winning distance ranks her fifth on Willamette's all-time top 10 list in the triple jump. The WU record was set by Laura Wright at 38' 6" in 1989.

The Willamette track and field teams will return to action on Saturday, March 10 at the Lane Preview, hosted by Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. (PST).
