Dinsmore is Honored as NWC Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week

Sprints to First Place Finishes at 100 meters and 200 meters

SALEM, ORE. -- Jaela Dinsmore (Sr., Hines, OR/Burns HS) from Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week following a very strong performance at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 3 at Charles Bowles Track.

Dinsmore took first place in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash to highlight a successful start to Willamette's track and field season. She won the 100-meter dash in 12.49 seconds while finishing one-third of a second in front of Shanai Campbell of Western Oregon University, who placed second at 12.82.

In the 200-meter dash, Dinsmore prevailed with a time of 25.67 seconds. She completed the race a full second before anyone else in the field. Lexi Pola of WOU claimed second place in 26.67 seconds.

Both of her times were personal bests that placed her on Willamette's top 10 lists. She is sixth in WU history in the 100-meter dash and is seventh all-time for the Bearcats in the 200-meter dash.

The Bearcats will compete again on Saturday, March 10 at the Lane Preview in Eugene, Ore. The meet, hosted by Lane Community College, is set to begin at 9 a.m. (PST).
