Dinsmore, White and Winger Lead Bearcats at Oregon Preview

EUGENE, ORE. -- Willamette University seniors Jaela Dinsmore (Hines, OR/Burns HS), Ray White (Corona, CA/Centennial HS) and Paul Winger (Bonney Lake, WA/Bonney Lake HS) led a strong showing by the Bearcat track and field teams at the Oregon Preview on Sunday, March 18 at Hayward Field.

Dinsmore placed fifth in the women's 200-meter dash and was seventh in the 400-meter dash. White finished third in the men's triple jump, while Winger took third in the men's 200-meter dash and was sixth in the 400-meter dash.

In the women's 200, Dinsmore registered a personal record time of 25.65 seconds to attain her fifth place finish. She moved from seventh to sixth on Willamette's Top 10 list. Her previous top time was 25.67 seconds at the Willamette Opener earlier this year. Lauryn Newson from the University of Oregon won the event in 24.24 seconds.

Samantha Nhim (Sr., Tigard, OR/Southridge HS) also competed in the 200 for the Bearcats and earned her second-fastest time ever while placing 12th in 26.89 seconds.

Dinsmore earned a time of 58.59 seconds in the 400 to claim seventh place, while Nhim finished 11th in 1:00.64.

White achieved a top distance of 44' 11.50" for third place in the triple jump. The event was won by Tyler Pinkney of Oregon, who covered 47' 6.25" on his best attempt. Caleb Kruse from Oregon was second at 45' 5".

Winger's third place result in the 200-meter dash was timed at 22.42 seconds. Zach Stanfield from Seattle University won the 200 in 21.89 seconds. Winger achieved a time of 49.68 seconds in the 400. He placed sixth overall, but was just 0.06 out of fifth place and 0.19 out of third. Arthur Delaney from Oregon won the 400 at 47.63 seconds. Both the 200 and the 400 involved two heats against time.

Other top performances for the Bearcats at the Oregon Preview:

Carson Kennedy (Fr., Forest Grove, OR/Forest Grove HS) was ninth in the men's long jump. His top leap went 20' 6.25".

Elisa Ahern (Fr., Lake Forest Park, WA/Shorecrest HS) took ninth place in the women's triple jump at 34' 8.50".

Theresa Edwards (Jr., Lake Tapps, WA/Bonney Lake HS) placed 11th and Kaitlin Greene (Sr., Pullman, WA/Pullman HS) was 13th out of 32 runners in the women's 1,500-meter run. Edwards recorded a time of 4:43.31, while Greene finished the race in 4:45.31.

In the men's 1,500-meter run, Kit Kingstad (So., Beaverton, OR/Beaverton HS) took 13th place and Kevin Aubol (Jr., Ellensburg, WA/Ellensburg HS) placed 17th in a field of 31 runners. Kingstad was timed at 3:58.97, while Aubol earned a time of 4:00.44.

Max Faulhaber (So., Eugene, OR/Sheldon HS) claimed 11th place in the men's hammer throw. His best toss went 144' 9".

Overall, the Bearcats were represented by about 20 competitors at the Oregon Preview. Willamette will be back in action March 30-31 when the Bearcats host the Willamette Invitational at the Charles Bowles Track.
