Willamette Women's Golf Team will Compete at NWC Fall Classic
RIDGEFIELD, WASH. -- Members of the Willamette women's golf team will participate in the Northwest Conference Fall Classic this weekend, when the 36-hole event is contested at Tri-Mountian Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28. The NWC Fall Classic counts for one-fourth of points available for the overall NWC team title.
The NWC Spring Classic counts for another one-fourth of the total, while the NWC Championship tournament has double the value with one-half of the points. Each team receives points for its finish at each of the three events.
Competition on Saturday will get underway at 8:30 a.m. (PDT) with a shotgun start. The women's tournament will begin on the back nine, while the NWC Fall Classic in men's golf, which also is being held at Tri-Mountain, will start on the back nine.
Willamette golfers Teneesh Kaur Sra (Fr., Freemont, CA/Mission San Jose HS), Elise Levy (Fr., Reno, NV/Bishop Monague HS), Nicole Smith (So., Portland, OR/Westview HS) and Mckenzie Weinhold (So., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/U. of Nevada-Reno) have consistently led the Bearcats this fall.
Levy tied for fourth place at her first collegiate golf tournament, the Boxer Classic, on Sept. 22-23 at the Quail Valley Golf Course. She earned a score of 158 (82-76). Karu Sra and Levy both tied for eighth at 165 during the Whitworth Invitational on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Wine Valley Golf Course. Kaur Sra shot 79-86, while Levy earned 83-81.
Smith finished in a tie for fifth place at the GFU Culturame Classic on Oct. 6-7 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club. She carded a 162 (80-82). Kaur Sra tied for eighth at 165 (87-78), while Weinhold placed 11th at 166 (86-80).
The low round for Willamette so far this season was recorded by Levy with a 76 in the second round of the Boxer Classic.
