Ahern Named NWC Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week
Wins Triple Jump at 37' 3.75" to move into Second on WU's All-Time List
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University track and field athlete Elisa Ahern (So., Lake Forest Park, WA/Shorecrest HS) has been chosen Northwest Conference Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for her results at the Lane Preview on Saturday, March 9.
Ahern took first place in the triple jump with one of the top distances in Willamette history. Her winning triple of 37' 3.75" moved her up from third into second place on Willamette's all-time Top 10 list.
In addition, Ahern earned fourth place in the long jump. Her best leap at the Lane Preview covered 16' 4.50".
Ahern ranks first in the Northwest Conference in the triple jump and is fifth in the long jump. She is currently third on the NCAA Division III national performance list in the triple jump and is 13th in the long jump.
Willamette will be competing at two track and field competitions this week. On Thursday, March 14, Willamette will host Corban University in a dual meet at John Lewis Field starting at 2 p.m. (PDT). A select group of Bearcats will participate in the Oregon Preview on Saturday, March 16 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
