Kingstad is Named NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week

Runs the 1,500 in 3:53.64 for 2nd-fastest Time in NCAA Division III this Season

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University runner Kit Kingstad (Jr., Beaverton, OR/Beaverton HS) has been chosen Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week. Kingstad achieved a time of 3:53.64 in the "A" section of the men's 1,500-meter run during the Celebration of Distance at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday, April 6.

Kingstad recorded the second-fastest time in NCAA Division III in the 1,500 this season. He trails only William Jones from Franciscan University (Ohio), who ran a 3:52.10 on Friday, April 5 at Bethany University (W.V.).

At the Willamette Invitational, Kingstad was the only Division III athlete who competed in the "A" section of the 1,500-meter run. He placed ninth in the race.

Last season, Kingstad registered his personal-record time of 3:50.23 in the 1,500 at the West Coast Invitational on May 12, 2012. He qualified for the NCAA Championships, where he placed 16th in the nation.

The Bearcats will compete at the John Knight Twilight at Western Oregon University on Friday, April 12 in Monmouth, Ore. Field events will start at 2 p.m. (PDT) and running events will begin at 3:50 p.m.
