Willamette Baseball Players Set to Battle Alumni Team on Oct. 12

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University's baseball team will battle against former Bearcat players in the 2013 Alumni Game set for Saturday, Oct. 12 at John Lewis Field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. (PDT).

Bill Trenbeath, who served as head baseball coach at WU from 1974 through 1986 and was the athletic director from 1988 through 2000, will be in attendance. Trenbeath was inducted into the Willamette Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

Former WU baseball players interested in competing for the alumni team should contact Head Coach Aaron Swick by e-mail to RSVP if they are attending. All alumni players should arrive at the field by noon on Oct. 12

Willamette ended the 2012 season with a 20-20 overall record and finished third in the Northwest Conference with a 13-11 mark. WU averaged 6.1 runs per game and was successful on 75% of its stolen base attempts (66 of 88). The Bearcats went 9-2 in the final 11 games of the year.

Tosh Semlacher hit a team-high seven home runs in 2012. He achieved a .304 batting average and was 14 of 16 on stolen bases.
