FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Junior Gwen Schulze (Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS/Austin College) qualified for the finals of the 100-yard butterfly during preliminary heats at the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the King County Aquatic Center. Schulze recorded a time of 1:01.04 for the sixth fasted time of the prelims. She will swim in the championship finals Saturday evening.

Schulze will be attempting to break the Willamette University record of 59.30, set by Gerianne Mikasa in 1997. Even if Schulze doesn't set a new record, she needs only a slight improvement over her preliminary time to reach Willamette's top 10 list. Six of the top 10 times are between 1:00.62 and 1:00.85.
