Leslie Shevlin is entering her fourth season as the head coach of the Willamette men’s and women’s swimming teams in 2012-13.

Shevlin guided several Bearcats to success at the 2012 NWC Championships this past spring. Sean Piper placed sixth in the men's 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.93 after recording a career-best time of 1:56.82 in the prelims. Piper placed 10th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.33, the fourth fastest time ever for a Bearcat in the 200 I.M.

Erin Parkinson took sixth place in the women's 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:25.89. Zander Le Bel was ninth in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle in 17:26.26.

Prior to joining the Willamette coaching staff, Shevlin was the assistant women’s swimming coach at the University of New Mexico for a total of four seasons. She previously served as a graduate assistant at Duquesne University.

In 2003, Shevlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she majored in Communication Studies. She received a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Duquesne in 2005.

At UNC-Wilmington, Shevlin competed on the swimming team all four years. She also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at UNCW.

She was a graduate assistant swimming coach at Duquesne for two years. She had a variety of duties at Duquesne, including coordinating road trips, team building and serving as the primary recruiter.

After completing her master’s degree, Shevlin was hired as an assistant coach at New Mexico. Her primary duties were in recruiting and the coaching of the distance freestyle group.

While working at UNM, she was a youth team assistant coach with the Lobo Aquatic Club. She also coached at the U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Camps in 2007 and 2008.
