Sabato has been a part of the Bearcat staff since 2005. He works with the pole vaulters, sprinter and jumpers.
In 2011 Sabato coached Katie Mariman to a school record vault of 11’5.75”. He has also coached six of Willamette’s top ten female vaulters.
He attended Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y., where he graduated in 2002 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. During his collegiate track and field career, Sabato competed inthe sprints, long jump and pole vault.
Along with his coaching duties, Sabato is an administrator in the Athletics Department and holds the title of creative project specialist.
Sabato times all Willamette meets and is regionally recognized as a Finish Lynx operator. He was interviewed by the New York Times to help explain the unprecedented tie in the 2012 Olympic Trials women’s 100m.
