Noah Horstman was hired in 2009 as the head coach of men's and women's golf at Willamette University. He is now in his third season with the Bearcats.
In addition, Horstman is in his first year as the head golf professional at Oak Knoll Golf Course near West Salem. He previously was the assistant golf professional at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Ore., which is Willamette's primary home course and practice site for the men's and women's golf teams. Horstman completed the PGA/PGM program in two years and began working at Illahe Hills in October of 2007.
He graduated from Pacific University (Ore.) in 2006 with a B.A. degree in Business and an emphasis in Marketing. While at Pacific, he competed on the golf team and earned All-Northwest Conference honors in 2005-06. He was the team captain from 2004 through 2006.
He was the team's representative to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2002-03. He also was a member of the Student Alumni Relations Council at Pacific and was the president of the local chapter in 2005-06.
Horstman is from Medford, Ore., where he worked as a grounds crew member at the Rogue Valley Country Club during summer and winter breaks while attending Pacific. Later, he served as the head golf coach at South Medford High School in 2007-08.
Prior to joining the professional staff at Illahe Hills, he was an assistant golf professional at the Centennial Golf Club in Medford from 2006-07. He also was the tournament coordinator at Centennial and was the club's webmaster.
Oak Knoll, Horstman's duties include planning and implementing all golf instruction and overseeing all areas of the golf operation. He coordinates tournament and other events, as well as outside competitions hosted by the golf course.
He implemented a week-long junior golf program at Illahe in 2008 and continued the program in 2009. He also has helped with a summer junior golf program.
