The Joy of Singing

On April 1 at 7:30pm, Oak Harbor High School will join Western Mennonite
School for “The Joy of Singing,” an evening concert of choral music and
solos. Oak Harbor High School’s Chamber Choir and Harbor Singers, under the
direction of Willamette alum Darren McCoy, will be taking their second annual
choir tour and will be stopping in Salem and Eugene to work with Dr. Wallace
Long and Dr. Sharon Paul. The concert will be held in Hudson Hall on the
campus of Willamette University and admission will be free.
Darren McCoy is in his second year of teaching at Oak Harbor High School. He graduated from Willamette University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Music and in 2008, he graduated from the University of Oregon with a Masters of Music Education and a Teaching License. While at Willamette University, he worked as music coordinator for Evergreen Presbyterian and spent time accompanying for the Pentacle Theater and local schools. Currently, he accompanies the Whidbey Community Chorus, plays in the Praise Ringers Bell Choir, accompanies for several local schools as well as sings and plays organ at local churches while composing and teaching privately during the summer.
