"Rivers of Change: The Story of Five Unheralded Women in Montgomery and Their Struggle for Justice and Dignity" is a film that chronicles the untold stories of women who fought discrimination and segregation in the United States and how their collective efforts changed a nation and impacted the world. It is the story of a 102-year legal battle that culminated in Montgomery, Alabama in 1956 when the actions of these women brought about the Montgomery Bus Boycott and an end to segregated seating on intra-city buses. Their action signaled the beginning of the modern day Black Civil Rights Movement, and ultimately ensured the inalienable rights of all Americans. William Dickerson-Waheed, the documentary’s producer/writer/director, will screen segments of the film and talk about his vocation as an activist.
